The line between specialty and traditional bedding continues to blur, as these once alternative products make greater inroads into the once impenetrable domain of the innerspring bed industry.
Pick up virtually any promotional literature by the “Big S’s” and other major mattress manufacturers, and you’ll find terms like “viscoelastic” and “latex” prominently featured. Those are just two of the materials that specialty bedding manufacturers have used for years.
The fact that these materials create higher-ticket products and more profit for retailers has also spurred acceptance on retail floors. Internet sales have also increased as more Web sites crop up to serve consumers who research options prior to buying
